CONFECTIONERY
The Epitome of Japanese-Western Fusion Condensing the Refinement of a 170-Year-Old Restaurant
Founded in 1856 (Ansei 3), this long-established, highly representative restaurant of the ancient capital has brought Kyoto's unique culture and "beauty" to fruition through its cuisine and hospitality. Adjacent to the World Heritage site Shimogamo Shrine, it is highly sought after for tea ceremonies and weddings. It embodies "dosan doho," the practice of cooking local ingredients using local methods. In addition to seasonings and traditional Kyoto cuisine, their mail-order items, such as the long-selling chirimen sansho (dried baby sardines with Japanese pepper), are not to be missed.
