Inviting You to the World of Kutani Ware Beauty with Gorgeous Saishiki Kinrande (Colored Gold Brocade)

The kiln "Kinzangama," opened by the first generation Shosaku Yoshida in 1906 (Meiji 39), has continued for about 119 years to the current 4th generation. What this kiln excels at is the technique of gold decoration (Kinsai). From the first generation, who excelled in Saishiki Kinrande (colored gold brocade style) using gold, they have featured painting using gold for generations. The 3rd generation Minori, who elevated the "Yuri-kinsai" (underglaze gold) technique and was certified as a Preserver of Important Intangible Cultural Property (Living National Treasure), the 4th generation Yukio, and his wife Rumiko express a new Saishiki Kinrande fitting the times while inheriting traditional techniques. At "Gallery Mutan," where the works of Kinzangama are gathered, you can see all the works of Kinzangama, and it is said that you can also purchase or order works, and tour the workshop. The solemn building using local Kanagaso stone was handled by designer Shinichiro Ogata. Sticking Noto Nigyo Washi paper to the ceiling, it is devised so that the Saishiki Kinrande works stand out, and it is a masterpiece.
