Craftsmanship that Discards Stereotypes and Creates New Value

Shuji Nakagawa, the third generation of Nakagawa Mokkougei, is actively engaged in innovative creations while inheriting woodworking techniques centered on traditional bucket making at his Hira workshop in Shiga Prefecture. With a style different from his father, Kiyotsugu Nakagawa, a Holder of an Important Intangible Cultural Property, he incorporates a modern and bold sense of design into woodworking. Starting with the "Wooden Bucket Tea Room," which he undertook aiming to create craft architecture utilizing the structural beauty and functionality of wooden buckets, he creates new value through craftsmanship that discards stereotypes, flexibly grasps manufacturing, and updates creativity.
