A Long-Established Purveyor to the Imperial Palace That Has Walked Alongside Japan's Wagashi Culture

A long-established wagashi (Japanese sweets) store with a "one-and-only" presence, having served as a purveyor to the Imperial Palace since the reign of Emperor Goyozei (1586-1611). It has been making wagashi for exactly five centuries. They opened a store in Tokyo in 1869 (Meiji 2) and moved to their current location in 1964 (Showa 39). Today, in addition to a gallery and a shop, there is also a Karyo (tea room) where you can enjoy sweets and light meals.
