One-of-a-Kind Beauty Embodying the New Possibilities of Lacquer

The 3rd generation, Keikou Nishimura, follows the lineage of Hyosai Kimura, the founder of Kyo-nuri (Kyoto lacquerware), and is said to be the successor of the Hyo faction. While following the inherited techniques as a lacquerer, he pursues new possibilities of lacquerware, from tea utensils, tableware, and bent works to art pieces, and continues to release sophisticated works. Among them, custom-made bowls are finished into a shape that fulfills the client's wishes through repeated meetings with them. In addition, he receives high praise from top-class chefs for enhancing the cuisine, and orders never cease. At the studio, production is carried out by a collaborative team centered on Keikou Nishimura, consistently from the wooden base to the top coat.
