The One and Only Beauty Embodying the New Possibilities of Urushi (Lacquer)

The third generation, Keikou Nishimura, follows the inherited lacquerer techniques, further hones his skills, and handles a wide range of works from tea utensils, tableware, and flexed (tawame) works to art pieces, announcing bold and refined works that pursue new possibilities for lacquerware. In addition, inheriting the spirit of everyday vessels that embody the beauty unique to Kyoto of the "Asagi-wan" (light blue bowls) once favored in the town of Kyoto, he created the modern version "Asagi-wan."
