A Famous Inn Fragrant with Culture that Nurtured Kurashiki's History and Conveys It to the Present
Ryokan Kurashiki stands in an atmospheric townscape, facing the Kurashiki River that flows through the center of the Kurashiki Bikan Historical Quarter. Founded in 1957, it is a famous inn loved by artists such as Shiko Munakata and Keisuke Serizawa. Originally a sugar wholesaler's merchant house and storehouse, it opened in response to the wish of local industrialist Soichiro Ohara: "An inn where travelers from all over the world can stay with peace of mind." It is a precious inn that passes on historical buildings and culture, conveying the charm of modern Kurashiki while retaining the atmosphere of the past.
