With designer Teruhiro Yanagihara as creative director, Momota-Touen launched "1616 / arita japan" as a new ceramics brand in 2012. While following tradition, they pursue simple and modern designs, proposing Arita ware with a sense of authenticity through an unprecedented new approach. Highly popular overseas as well, they continue making vessels that stay close to the coming future.
