Art Experience in a Mansion, a Garden Retaining the Vestiges of the Court
The main building, built in 1933 (Showa 8) as the private residence of the Imperial Prince Asaka family, opened as an art museum in 1983. The main building, which employed famous designers in the French Art Deco style, including Henri Rapin, for the interior of its major rooms, was designated as a national Important Cultural Property in 2015. The garden, which has lawn garden, Japanese garden, and Western garden areas, allows you to enjoy the changing expressions of the four seasons despite being in the center of the city.
