Inheriting Tradition and Continuing to Evolve: The Future of Art Textiles

Founded in 1688 (the first year of the Genroku era) in Nishijin, Kyoto, as a weaving house purveyor to major temples. Supported by wealthy townspeople in addition to nobles and the samurai class, it has a glorious history of bearing Kyoto's textile culture by mastering overwhelming luxury and beauty together with numerous craftsmen. Currently, it handles many collaborations with overseas luxury brands and has become an existence widely recognized both domestically and internationally.
