Forms Born from Conversing with Wood, Driven by a Sensitivity that Finds Beauty in Natural Curves

Shuji Nakagawa, the third generation of Nakagawa Mokkougei, previously created dynamic works as an artist using iron as a material. With a style different from his father, Kiyotsugu Nakagawa, a holder of Important Intangible Cultural Property, he introduced modern and bold design to woodworking, and the Jindai Sugi (Japanese lignite cedar) KI-OKE Stool was selected for the permanent collection of the V&A Museum in London, UK. "YORISHIRO," which created unique formative beauty with advanced techniques, quietly speaks with beauty hidden in its magnanimous figure.
